After a lengthy period of enjoyable hikes, the journey transitions from lush green hills to a barren and arid landscape in the stunning Manang high valley, surrounded by the towering Northern Annapurna and Chulus peaks, where there’s ample opportunity to explore its magnificent cultural villages and fascinating Braga monastery. From Manang, a walk leads to our beautiful spot at enchanting Tilicho Lake, where the route diverges from the main Annapurna circuit trail, venturing into a vast expanse of barren land and nearing mountains to arrive at the turquoise Tilicho Lake.Participating in the ascent surrounding Tilicho, where the lake is deemed sacred by both Hindu and Buddhist faiths, is located in a picturesque area among the peaks of Annapurna-Nilgiri. Following a serene period at Tilicho Lake, the trek returns to the main route leading to Thorang-la Pass. Upon reaching the essential route leading to a significant leap atop the highest point of the journey at Thorang-la pass at 5,416 m, with an amazing view of mountains and breathtaking landscapes.

Heading downwards, the final part of the journey leads to the divine Muktinath Sanctuary grounds, a sacred and important pilgrimage site for both Hindu and Buddhist faiths, where you can explore the temple area of great significance. Finally, we conclude our celestial journey with a drive to Jomsom, the quaint town in the Colt region, where a scenic brief flight transports you to the magnificent Pokhara city and its beautiful valley by the lakes. The journey concludes in Pokhara, where the Tilicho Lake trek and Semi Annapurna Circuit adventure end after an incredible experience that can only be termed as epic, returning to Kathmandu.

Tour Plan

Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

On arrival at Kathmandu International Airport, received by View Nepal Treks staff and guide and then transfer to your hotels. After checking into rooms and getting refreshed joining at meeting place for Tilicho Lake and Semi Annapurna Circuit treks briefing with hotels, lodge on the route with do's and don’ts includes welcome dinner.

Day 2 In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour and trek preparation.

 

Today in Kathmandu preparation for the great trek, with last day to buy and hire gears required for the treks, for interested people can join in our half day tour around Kathmandu at places of great interest within world heritage sites, afternoon free preparation for Tilicho Lake and Semi Annapurna Circuit

Day 3 Drive to Syange 1,100 m via Besisar 800 m - 07 hrs.

 

The morning starts with a drive on tourist coach or smaller vehicle as group size for an overland journey that takes you away from Kathmandu valley, heading into low warmer areas with views of snowcapped mountains. The journey continues on busy main highway past farm villages and town heading towards Nepal Mid-West to reach at warmer areas of Lamjung district at Besisahar town, as drive follows Masrsyangdi River upstream to reach our first overnight stop at small farm village at Syange.

Day 4 Trek to Dharapani 1,920 m - 05 hours

 

From Syange village morning climb on leaving the river behind for some time as walk reaches a nice farm village of Jagat, and then walk leads on gradual winding up to Chamje to reach back at Masrsyangdi River. After crossing heading into the forested area, with views of Annapurna and Manaslu range of peaks, as walk advance on wide path to nice village of Tal Besi, from here 2-3 hours of good walk to Dharapani village for overnight stop, Dharapani a nice village situated at the junction of Annapurna Circuit and Manaslu trekking trail.

Day 5 Trek to Chame 2,670 m - 05 hours

 

After Dharapani walk leads on a wide winding trail within rhododendron and pine tree forest and into Bagachap and Danque, then with steep up to Timang village, around this high cooler area where you notice more Buddhist culture with the view of Mt. Manaslu 8,163m / 26,781ft. From Timang village a few hours walk takes you to Koto and then to Chame town for an overnight stop, Chame a large and major town of Manang area and as well a headquarters of Manang district.

Day 6 Trek to Pisang 3, 230 m - 05 hrs

 

From here onwards the air gets cooler and fresh as the walk leads close to mountains, morning walk leads through enchanting alpine forests of rhododendron and pine trees, following the Marshyangdi River upstream with short ups and down hills to Bhratang village. From Bhratang village walk follows uphill through alpine woodland to Dhukure Pokhari a small place with few teahouses and lodge overlooking Chulu’s and Pisang peak, with a lunch break here, walk descends to lower Pisang village for an overnight stop.

Day 7 Trek to Manang Village 3,450 m - 05 hrs

 

Pisang village offers great scenery of mountains and surrounding landscapes, from here altitude gains as the morning walk leads through forest and with a short uphill with super views of staggering Annapurna II and III, Gangapurna Chulu’s and Pisang peak. As the walk reach flat valley at Hongde village, from here onward tree lines disappear for barren, arid landscapes with cold, dry arctic climate. Before Manang, visit old Braga monastery with old Buddhist relics, ancient wall painting and frescos and stunning views of Annapurna Himalaya, from here an hour walk to Manang village. The houses around Manang built in traditional Tibetan style and Manang people are known for their rich culture and traditions.

Day 8 Rest day at Manang for local hikes and acclimatization

 

A necessary rest day for acclimatization before heading higher towards Thorang-la pass, in Manang with optional short hike and explore Manang village and valley, Manang a large village situated on windswept valley at the bank of Masrsyangdi River beneath Annapurna and Gangapurna mountain range, a nice walk uphill for views of Gangapurna Glacier and the Manang emerald Lake.

Day 9 Trek to Khangsar 3,734 - 05 hrs.

 

After Manang village morning walk leads away from the main Annapurna circuit route to reach our highlight of the adventure, as walk leads the last village of Manang at Khangsar for an overnight stop on route to Tilicho Lake.

Day 10 Trek to Tilicho Base Camp 4,800 m - 04 hrs

 

From Khangsar walk leads further to remote areas of Manang valley, after a tough morning walk reaching at Tilicho Base Camp, our highest overnight camp of this adventure at 4,800 meters high. Overnight stops in a local lodge with chances of spotting some wild-life like antelopes, musk deer or elusive snow leopard before walking to Tilicho Lake the next day.

Day 11 Hike to Tilicho Lake 4,140 m and return to base camp - 06 hrs.

 

Morning heading towards our main destination at beautiful Tilicho Lake within complete wilderness surrounded by high peaks of Tilicho and Gangapurna Himal, from here onwards around dry and arid country, morning walk on downhill for some time, then uphill for a while and heading to a descend to reach scenic and emerald colored Tilicho Lake after walking for few hours from the base camp. Tilicho Lake formed from the glaciers of Tilicho and Gangapurna peaks including other hidden mountains of Nilgiri’s, the lake considered holy among Hindu religion as well for Buddhist which is described of the lake in ancient Hindu sacred books. Here enjoy the fabulous scenery within the lake premises and return back to base camp for overnight stops after a marvelous time around Tilicho Lake.

Day 12 Trek to Khangsar 3,734 - 05 hrs

 

After a fantastic view and enjoyable time around Tilicho Lake and at its base camp, walk leads back towards Khangsar to reach the main Annapurna circuit trail, retrace the journey back on the same route to Khangsar for overnight stops.

Day 13 Trek to Yak Kharka 4,110 m - 04 hours.

 

After a fabulous time around beautiful Tilicho Lake, morning walk leads towards on the main trail of Annapurna circuit towards Thorang-la with overnight stop at Yak Kharka, an interesting high altitude walks with super views of snowcapped mountains, then crossing a small stream river to reach Yak Kharka, a small settlement with tremendous views of Gangapurna, Annapurna III and Chulu Peaks.

Day 14 Trek to Thorang High Camp 4,600 m - 04 hrs.

 

As the walk advances to high area, heading closer to the base of Thorang-la as the walk leads to cross a bridge and then a climb along the river bank of Jarjung, as walk leads to Thorang Phedi, and then with short steep climb to Thorang High Camp for overnight stop.

Day 15 Cross Thorang-La 5,416 m and to Muktinath 3,800 m - 07 hrs.

 

A Big Day! Of this great adventure, an early breakfast where morning walk leads to long climb up to Thorang-la with a steep and winding trail to reach on top at Thorang La Pass above 5,416 m high. The highest spot the adventure rewards you with a super vista of landscapes and snow-capped peaks and then taking a long descend to reach at Muktinath Temple premises with the height of 3,800 m high for an overnight stop in of its nice and cozy lodge, facing views of Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri’s peaks. Muktinath, a holy spot for both Hindu and Buddhist the word Muktinath means ‘the place for Nirvana or Liberation’.

Day 16 Two Hours drive to Jomsom 2,715 m with afternoon at leisure.

 

After Muktinath, our adventure ends where drive leads to a big drop of 1,200 m towards Kaligandaki river valley, as exciting drive reaches at Jomsom after few hour of the interesting ride. Jomsom a headquarter town of Mustang region with a small airstrip above Kaligandaki River. At Jomsom afternoon free to explore Thakali town and to witness its impressive culture of Tibetan Buddhism, quite similar to Manang villages. Jomsom situated on old Trans Himalayan Salt and Caravan Trail of Nepal and Tibet which extends towards upper Mustang unto Tibet border at Karo-la pass.

Day 17 From Jomsom Drive/fly to Pokhara 860 m (22 minutes on air).

 

From the hotel and lodge at Jomsom walk near to its air terminal, where an early morning flight of less than half hour brings you at beautiful Pokhara for overnight stop by the serene Lake Phewa, during flight in small aircraft facing tremendous views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna peaks. Pokhara a renowned touristic spot of Nepal and all Himalaya a city blessed with mountains, green hills, and valley including its serene Lakes of Phewa and Begnas.

Day 18 Drive or fly back to Kathmandu afternoon

Enjoying the pleasant overnight stop at magnificent Pokhara by its beautiful Phewa Lake with super views of Annapurna mountains, where an exciting drive brings you back at Kathmandu with memorable moments around high hills of Annapurna Himalaya with rest of the afternoon free at leisure
