Other impressive mountains observed on this journey include Dhaulagiri (8167m), Manaslu (8163m), Annapurna I (8091m), Gangapurna (7455m), Lamjung Himal (6931m), Baraha Shikhar (7847m), Nilgiri (7061m), Tukuche Peak (6920m), and Hiunchuli (6441m). Poon Hill Trekking is among the most renowned and traditional treks in the Annapurna region. The Gurung and Magar represent two of the ethnic communities residing in this region. The local villager’s warm hospitality greatly enhances this remarkable trail experience. Opportunities arise to explore significant Gurung and Magar villages, including Ghandruk, Ulleri, Birethanti, Hile, Tikhedhunga, Ghorepani, and Tadapani along the route.This trek is also partly in the Annapurna Conservation Area, which is abundant with a wide variety of flora and fauna. Our trek starts by taking a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara, a place famous as the gateway to the Annapurna region. Pokhara is a small town also known as the City of Lakes.

Tour Plan

Day 1 Arrival in Kathmandu 1338m

We will greet you at Tribhuvan International Airport and transfer you to the hotel in our private car. You can have a rest for some time and then in the evening, you can explore touristic hub of Thamel. Overnight at a 4-star hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 2 Fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara 820m/25 minutes and drive to Hile 1430m/3 hours by jeep and trek to Ulleri 1960m/2-3 hours

Morning we drive after breakfast in hotel. Relishing stunning view of the mountains, we fly off to Pokhara. After landing in Pokhara, we drive on a highway road till Nayapul. From Nayapul, we drive on a rough off-road till we reach Hille by 4W driving. We take a short break, and then we begin our trek to Ulleri. We trek along the countryside till we reach Tikhedhunga. We climb up stone paved stairs till we reach Ulleri, the village of Magar. Overnight at a guesthouse/lodge in Ulleri.

Day 3 Trek from Ulleri to Ghorepani 2880m/4-5 hours

The trek from Ulleri to Ghorepani is quite spectacular. It is filled with amazing natural attributes, like waterfalls and small streams that flow through the landscape in the merriest of ways. The trekking trail goes through verdant juniper woods and crosses wonderfully laden-out terrace farms of rice and barley to finally reach Ghorepani- one of the prominent ethnic settlements of the region from where the views of mountain peaks like the Gangapurna, the Hiunchuli Himal and the Annapurna range and the Dhaulagiri Himal are simply breath-taking. Overnight at a guesthouse/lodge in Ghorepani.

Day 4  Hike to Poon Hill 3210m and trek from Ghorepani to Tadapani 2630m/5-6 hours

Early in the morning, we will hike towards Poon Hill (3210m) which will take almost hour. An uphill climb will lead us to Poon Hill viewpoint from where we can see the beautiful view of the golden rays of the sun falling on the silver lining of the snow ragged mountains. We can also enjoy the magnificent views of the mountains like Dhaulagiri Range (8167m), Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna II  (7937m), Annapurna IV (7525m), Annapurna South (7219m), Nilgiri (7061m), Tukuche Peak (6920m), Baraha Shikhar (7847m), Lamjung Himal (6983m) and other mountains. We will descend back to Ghorepani, have our breakfast and head towards Tadapani. The descending trail along the Deurali Pass (3090m) will lead us to Tadapani through the pine and rhododendron forests. Overnight at a guesthouse/lodge in Tadapani.

Day 5 Trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk 1940m/3-4 hours

Today we trek to Ghandruk from Tadapani. The descending trails along the thick rhododendron and oak forest will lead us to one of the famous Gurung Village, Ghandruk. The village is famous for showcasing the Gurung culture and traditions. One can enjoy the striking views of the mountains like Annapurna South (7219m), Gangapurna (7454m), Machhapuchhre (6997m), Annapurna III (7555m), Hiunchuli (6441m) and other Mountains from the viewpoint in Ghandruk. Overnight at a guesthouse/lodge in Ghandruk.

Day 6  Trek from Ghandruk to Syauli Bazaar 1220m/3 hours and drive to Pokhara 820m/3 hours by jeep

From Ghandruk, you will have a trek to Syauli Bazaar, hiking under the tourmaline canopy of bamboo woods. The trek is paired with peeking Mountains that appear and disappear as you meander through the valley. After arriving at Syauli Bazaar, you will have a drive back to Pokhara on a jeep, enjoying the jade-green forest canvas that paints a marvelous picture. Overnight at a 4-star hotel in Lakeside, Pokhara.

Day 7  Fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu 25 minutes 

We will catch an afternoon flight from Pokhara airport to Kathmandu. Once we arrive in Kathmandu, we will escort you to the hotel in Thamel. The evening is free to enjoy the wandering the streets of Thamel to purchase souvenirs and try local cuisine. Overnight at a 4-star hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 8 Final Departure from Kathmandu

After breakfast at the hotel, we will drive you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your scheduled departure. Farewell!
