Reviews

The name Island Peak (Imja Tse 6189m) is assigned to this mountain due to its resemblance to an island of ice amid the lofty areas of the Himalayas in Nepal. Island Peak Climbing is among the most traditional adventures in the Everest area, providing stunning views of the towering Himalayas from Kalapatthar and the Everest View Hotel. Climbing Island Peak in Nepal provides one of the most captivating experiences of ascending the peak in the Khumbu area.

Our Island Peak climbing itinerary begins with a scenic flight above the vibrant green valleys to Lukla. Upon arriving at one of the world’s most perilous airports, we commence our adventure by hiking to Phakding and arrive at Namche Bazaar. We subsequently hike through traditional Sherpa villages such as Tengboche, Pangboche, and Dingboche on our way to Everest Base Camp. As we make our way to the Island Peak Base Camp, the magnificent mountains accompany us during the hike. As the path goes through the Khumbu area, known as the home of Sherpas, we will have the opportunity to experience the local traditions, customs, dances, and culture. Ascension of Island Peak in Nepal is regarded as one of the most intriguing experiences in the Everest area. The mountain is regarded as a continuation of the southern ridge of Lhotse Shar. Located on the Chhukung glacier between Ama Dablam (6856m) and Lhotse Mountains, Island Peak is a highly sought-after trekking destination for mountaineers and adventure enthusiasts due to its demanding geographical features. No technical mountaineering skills are required to ascend Island Peak 6189m; instead, a strong fitness level and a willingness to challenge ourselves are all that’s needed. The adventure of ascending Island Peak will be both demanding and exciting.

** Announcement for domestic flights arriving at and departing from Lukla **

To prevent air traffic congestion at Kathmandu Airport and ensure smooth flight operations, Lukla flights will be conducted from Ramechhap (Manthali) Airport starting Spring (April 1 to May 31, 2025) and Autumn (October 1 to November 30, 2025).

In this regard, you require 1 buffer day to handle all transfers to and from Manthali Airport (OR we can modify the itinerary on Day 2 so that you do the guided sightseeing tour in Kathmandu and then, later in the afternoon, transfer to Mulkot). We recommend driving to Mulkot, a three-hour journey from Kathmandu, and staying overnight at a hotel. The following morning, a one-hour drive will take you to Manthali Airport to catch your flights to Lukla. Upon return, you can fly to Manthali Airport and drive back to Kathmandu on the same day.

Customize Your Trek: This is a general itinerary, which can always individually be “tailormade”. The trek package can be redesigned or redeveloped as per your taste, For more information please e-mail us at [email protected]
