After an early breakfast, we take a scenic drive to Charikot which is 130 km far away from Kathmandu. Driving northeast of Kathmandu along the Araniko Highway, we pass through different small villages and settlement, forest and ridges. Along the road, we can also relish the beautiful view of terraced rice field, eye catching landscape, Bhote-koshi river and spectacular mountain view. On the way, we will stop at Kharidhunga to enjoy the cool breeze and the panoramic view of the snow-capped mountains. After 7 hour drive, we will reach Charikot in the afternoon. Charikot is a municipality in north-eastern Nepal and the headquarters of Dolakha District in Province No. 3. Our walk starts from Charikot with a decent crossing through the nearby villages and terraced rice field. We walk along the trail through a subtropical forest towards Ukhubari where we will be welcomed by the local villagers with flower garlands. Overnight accommodation at local homestay.
The trek starts with steep downhill through the terraced rice field to Charange River. We cross the river and the trail then continues to ascend more gently, through the pine forest towards Magapauwa, a scattered Tamang village. En route, we could see the stunning view of Charikot Bazaar. We continue walking through the terraced landscape and pine forest. On the way, we will stop for lunch at Deurali. After having lunch at Deurali, we continue walk along the trail to Dhunge. This village is located in a nice open ground with spectacular views of Mount Gaurishankar, Melungste, Langtang Range and other snow-capped peaks. Overnight accommodation at local homestay
Today, we have to ascend mostly uphill. The first bit of walking for an hour will be in the forest and then we get to Kaalapani, a tiny Tamang settlement. The trail ascends through forests of Sailung that offer a wide variety of local vegetation and different species of birds. Most of the walking is through the pine and rhododendron forest. March and April are the best time to visit this place as the forest is ablaze with red, white and pink rhododendron flowers. The views start to get better and better as we climb up. After reaching to the top of Sailung, our efforts will be rewarded with spectacular views of the Himalayan mountain ranges, stretching from Dhauligiri and Annapurna in the West to Numbur chuili and Everest in the East. Sailung (“Sai - hundred, Lung - hills”) is the land of hundred hilllocks which is located at the height of 3,146m. Almost 90% of mountains range can be seen from the top of Sailung hill. This place is the perfect destination to see sunrise and sunset view over the snowy peaks. Sailung has its distinctive beauty in different seasons like in winter Sailung is covered with snows and spring is filled with Rhododendrons, and greener pastures leave you speechless through the remaining seasons. After some great photo opportunities of this fantastic area, we descend down to the valley bottom and reach Khola Kharka village. Overnight accommodation at local homestay.
Early morning breakfast before starting our journey. We'll see an amazing sunrise view over the Himalayan mountains from the top of Sailung. After spending some times there, we will continue our walk following the same trail up to Deuraali. Local interaction / sightseeing around the village during free time. After having a breakfast , we will have a scenic drive to Kuri crossing several villages and beautiful forest encountering a number of wild flora and fauna. Kuri is a small village with settlement of lodges to accommodate the tourist, which is right below the Kalinchowk hill. Excursion around the village during free time. Overnight stay at hotel.
Early morning breakfast then drive to Ghyang danda from where we will start our short hiking to Kalinchwok Temple. While walking, we will be able to experience an awesome sunrise view from the Himalayan mountains. Kalinchwok is the famous pilgrimage site for Hindus as well as for Buddhist. The Hindu people worship at Kalinchowk Bhagwati with great devote. At the day of Janai Purnima festival, thousand of devotees visit Kalinchowk Bhagwati for puja. From the summit of kalinchwok temple, we can enjoy the splendid superbrilliant view of of mount Gaurisankhar (7,181m), Melungste (7,181 m) and the other neighbouring mountains of Langtang and Rolwaling Himalayan Range. After spending some time at the temple, we will desending to Ghyangdanda from where we will drive to a small farm in Tarthali, a small village with a spectacular views of Mount Gaurishankar, Melungste and other snow-capped mountains. The farm is run by a small family of Thami ethnic group where we will be welcomed by one of the host with flower garlands. Overnight stay at the farm.
This morning, we wake up with the chirping sounds of birds and the appealing mountain views are waiting just outside the room. We will enjoy the beautiful sunrise view over the Himalayan Mountains while having our delicious breakfast. After breakfast, we take a short walk around the farm before heading towards Dolakha – an ancient Newari town that houses a famous temple of Bhimeshwor, also known as Bhimsen Temple. Dolakha is full of heritage sites dating back to Lichchhavi and Malla dynasties featuring monuments, traditional architectures, old-style Newari settlement, their tradition, culture and language. After exploring the town, we will have snacks at one of the Newari restaurants in Dolakha before driving back to Kathmandu. Lunch on the way.
